Morgan Motor Company shifts up a gear with IFS Applications
IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces that Morgan Motor Company, the British sports motor manufacturer, has chosen IFS Applications™ as its new ERP solution to improve operational efficiencies, making way for future growth and innovation.
Based in the UK’s historic spa town of Malvern, Morgan is one of the oldest automotive brands in the world, manufacturing sports cars that are famous for their unique design, craftsmanship and performance. The 105-year-old company will implement IFS Applications as a flexible ERP solution to replace an old Sage 500 system. The move will enable Morgan to improve the quality of customer service through streamlining its manufacturing processes.
The company will begin an 18-month implementation programme in August, which will enable all departments within the business to access the ERP system, including R&D, the customer service centre, sales and production. Following the initial roll out, Morgan plans to introduce IFS Applications to its global dealer network, replacing unnecessary manual processes with fast, direct orders.
IFS Applications will see Morgan move from siloed, paper-based planning to a more dynamic way of tracking business processes. This will include managing production timescales and costs when building new vehicles, as well as improving the processing of customer and sales calls. IFS Applications will link Morgan’s ten separate databases together for the first time, providing employees with a simple way of analysing business data in order to make more informed decisions.
Within the car manufacturing industry, it is crucial to commence and finish projects in line with regulation dates; otherwise it could impact commercial ability to sell vehicles. The new system will enable Morgan to track project costs more accurately. As an example, the company expects to save 40 hours a week by not manually analysing timesheet data.
IFS successfully won the business due to its deep manufacturing expertise and the software’s agile architecture, which is developed with a group structure in mind. The company was initially just looking for a new ERP system for its Aero Racing division, but decided to implement IFS across the entire business due to the capabilities and flexibility of the system.
Graham Chapman, Technology Director at Morgan Motor Company, comments, “Over the course of our 105-year history, we’ve witnessed both car design and manufacturing processes grow more complex. Having robust technology in place will help us remove inefficiencies, so we can continue to evolve as a business and deliver a quality service to our customers.”
“With IFS Applications, we have the ability to use the software to run multiple streams and business units across the group, ensuring they communicate with each other effectively. The IFS team clearly understood our implementation requirements and we look forward to reaping the benefits the new ERP system will have on customer satisfaction, operational agility and innovation,” added Chapman.
Paul Massey, Managing Director of IFS Europe West, said, “With our rich heritage in manufacturing, we’re delighted to be working with such an iconic British brand to modernise its IT systems. With IFS Applications, Morgan will benefit from increased visibility across its entire organisation, translating into productivity benefits for employees, and increased innovation and quality of service to customers.”
