IFS delivers visualization within IFS Document Management
IFS launches InstantView, a new feature for visualization of documents in IFS Document management. The solution makes it possible to preview any document, regardless of file format or pre-installed software.
The InstantView feature lets the user view any document file, from Microsoft Office documents to 2D- and 3D-CAD files, without having to install the software with which the file was originally created. All files are rendered on the server, thereby reducing bandwidth usage and improving performance on slow networks and in distributed environments. By not downloading files locally, companies can also improve security in the handling of classified or sensitive material.
The InstantView feature is based on Oracle’s AutoVue Enterprise Visualization solutions and represents a major enhancement of existing functionality based on locally downloaded preview files converted to PDF. By utilizing leading-edge technology, IFS offers a built-in visualization offering that facilitates viewing and sharing documents with no software requirements on the user’s side.
“We are excited to present the InstantView feature, which is the first of a number of enhancements that we are planning for the new document management solution based on Oracle’s AutoVue Enterprise Visualization. InstantView is designed to improve efficiency and security in document management processes and it also significantly reduces network load, making it ideal in distributed environments,” said Christian Klingspor, Product Director Service & Asset Management Solutions at IFS.
“By leveraging Oracle’s AutoVue as the basis for InstantView, IFS can offer its customers a powerful visualization solution that can enhance user efficiency, network performance and security. Oracle’s AutoVue is at the forefront of visualization technology and delivers a feature rich solution for current and future IFS users,” saidThierry Bonfante, senior director, AutoVue product management and strategy, Oracle.
IFS InstantView is available for purchase by customers using the IFS Enterprise Explorer or Web interfaces. The solution, partly based on Oracle technology, is delivered as a built-in and completely integrated feature within the IFS Applications suite.
