IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces the new IFS Touch Apps Partner Program at the IFS World Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden. The program is aimed at delivering new and exciting smartphone apps to IFS’s customers. The program will be officially launched on November 15, 2012, and five partners—NEC, Addovation, TimeZynk, Cedar Bay, and Cooper Software—have already signed on.
The apps developed through the partner program will use the same IFS Cloud infrastructure as IFS’s own Touch Apps. In practical terms, this means that customers already using IFS Touch Apps do not need to sign any new contracts or perform any additional installation or configuration to use partner-developed apps.
“We are very excited about the launch of the IFS Touch Apps Partner Program,” IFS CTO Dan Matthews said. “IFS is not only looking to enable its customers to reach their mobile users with e-mails and SMS notifications, but to empower them to act there and then—on their device and while on the move. This is why we decided to develop IFS Touch Apps in the first place. However, we are not the only ones with innovative app ideas, which is why we are launching the IFS Touch Apps Partner Program. Through the program, our customers can benefit from our partners’ innovations with no additional effort.”
NEC Corporation, one of the world’s leading IT service providers, has decided to sign on as partner. Through its long cooperation with IFS, Tokyo-based NEC has a large customer base for which it will develop smartphone apps.
“We are excited about joining the IFS Touch Apps Partner Program, which is perfectly aligned with our mobility strategy,” said Fumiyasu Hirano, Vice President and General Manager, NEC. “We have had a long and fruitful collaboration with IFS in many different areas and we see this partner program as the next logical step towards developing the next generation of mobile business software.”
Norwegian Addovation is one of the first companies to join the program. The company has already started development of their first app, inspired by services such as Dropbox and Microsoft SkyDrive, that lets the user access and share documents stored in IFS Document Management via his or her smartphone.
“We are very enthusiastic about the IFS Touch Apps Partner Program and we believe the collaboration will increase our international visibility,” Addovation CEO Per Inge Sævareid said. “We have many years of experience working with IFS Applications, and we believe our app is the natural next step for IFS customers who want to maximize the productivity of their mobile workforce.”
TimeZynk, a Swedish vendor of mobile solutions for personnel planning, time management and social networking, has signed on as partner. TimeZynk is developing a unique, multi-platform application providing efficient and user-friendly workflows.
“As a relatively young company, partnering with a global company such as IFS will help us expand our footprint in the market,” TimeZynk CEO Ulf Jönsson said. “By developing smartphone apps that leverage the rich functionality of IFS Applications, we see a great market potential for our solutions. IFS has many interesting customers worldwide, and we are looking forward to providing them with our intelligent mobile functionality.”
Also joining the partner program is UK-based Cedar Bay, a provider of data collection solutions. Cedar Bay is developing an application for inventory and quality assurance processes for use in the IFS Touch Apps framework, targeting off-premise, mobile working.
“Cedar Bay operates in UK, France, Spain and the Americas,” Cedar Bay Director Roger Teagle said. “We have some excellent functionality for IFS customers, which we believe is of great interest to IFS users across the globe. The IFS Touch Apps framework will allow these users to access some of our key functionality using a very simple and easy-to-deploy model. This will provide them a rapid insight into how our solutions can help improve and streamline their businesses.”
Cooper Software, an IFS systems integration specialist with offices in the UK, Sweden, and France, has also decided to sign on as partner. Cooper Software is designing an innovative app that automates the delivery of customer and supplier reports using e-mail, fax and EDI.
“We see the new IFS partner program and its supporting cloud platform for Touch Apps as both breakthrough technology and an exciting new business model within the world of ERP systems,” Cooper Software Managing Director Frank Cooper said. “We are excited to be incorporating this into our product offering so we can deliver even more value to our client base through the products and solutions we offer.”
