Certificate

SSL—a more secure way of communicating via the Internet .

Server Certificate—a server ID

A server ID has two functions, it guarantees the identity of the web site and enables communication over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL). This means that information is encrypted during transmission between the web server and the web browser.

At https://alliances.ifsworld.com, we use VeriSign to offer the highest possible security between the visitor and the server. For visitors, this means that the information that provides will not be lost, distorted or copied. Thus information transfer is protected.

Client Certificate—a visitor ID

The client certificate that must be installed on the user’s computer protects the company and the user since they are certain who they are communicating with.

Import / Export certificate

Certificates can be exported, imported and removed in case you need to use another computer temporarily. Remember to remove the certificate when you have finished using the computer. The certificate may NOT be left on computers other than the computer for which the certificate has been issued.

Cookies

A cookie is a data file that certain web sites add to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie file can contain information, such as a user ID, that the site uses to track the pages you've visited. The only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie can't read data from your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. IFS uses cookies to identify the computer on which the certificate is to be installed.

The client certificate must be installed on the same computer as the one that was used when making the request. You will receive this error message if you try to install the certificate on a different computer. (Windows 2002 and Windows XP)

Miscellaneous

If your certificate is invalid or has been revoked, please enter the registration form without creating an account, enable the “Have already an account” box.
“Check this checkbox”

If you can't remember your password or have another questions, please e-mail us at alliances-help@ifsworld.com.

For all requests please include your registration information as company name, phone number and company e-mail address.

Unexpected client error message

This message shows up at random when you apply for a client certificate. When it appears you have to restart from the beginning and make a new request.  We await an explanation from Microsoft.

This error message might show up when you have NT 4. To avoid this message you have to change the security settings (Tools, Internet Options, Advanced ) by checking to checkbox "Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)" under Security. Restart your browser and apply for the certificate.
