A true web interface
IFS Personal Portal and the web interface give a true web experience—an easy-to-use interface presented in a browser. Only standard HTML and JavaScript are used—no plug-ins or big applets. Navigation
through hyperlinks integrates seamlessly with your browser’s favorites, bookmarks, and history functions. You can link from IFS Applications to information on the Internet and in your Intranet. And you can link from the Intranet directly to activities,
data, queries, and reports in IFS Applications.
Portals are role-based and tailored for each user. Intranet, Extranet and Internet information can be integrated directly into the portal. From the portal, users drill down into the full web interface to
perform business activities such as registering customer orders or viewing and approving invoices.
Ready for the Internet
There is a lot to gain by extending access to your business application to customers and suppliers. The Internet has made this possible—but there are hurdles to overcome. Security must be guaranteed,
bandwidth is limited, and network delays must be overcome.
At IFS we have gone to great lengths to optimize our portal and web interface for the Internet environment. Because we only use standard web technologies like HTML and JavaScript, our solutions work with
software and hardware security solutions including SSL encryption, switches, firewalls, and proxies. Our unique page composition technology greatly reduces bandwidth requirements and increases tolerance of network delays—allowing up to five concurrently
active users per 56kbps connection. IFS supports Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers. Your users may choose the one they prefer.
Open, standards based architecture
Nowhere is the use of open standards more important than in the web arena. The IFS portal and web interface is built using the Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) standard giving you freedom to choose
an operating environment to suit your needs and budget. You can choose free and open source with Linux, Apache and TomCat, opt for the Windows / IIS combination, or use advanced clustering solutions from BEA/WebLogic, IBM, Sun and others.
Would you like to include IFS Applications content or functionality in a web page you’ve built yourself? No problem—we provide access from standard Java Server Pages (JSP) and Servlets, as well as Microsoft
Active Server Pages (ASP).
