IFS Defence’s RCM solution has, since 1995 exploited the growing market for asset maintenance solutions based on the principles of RCM. The RCM Toolkit enables storage of maintenance strategies derived using RCM analysis techniques in a database. In the late 1990’s, the UK Royal Navy (RN) adopted a specific RN version of the RCM Toolkit to drive savings in through life platform maintenance, and in 2001, the RN awarded iSC (now part of IFS Defence) a development contract to satisfy a need for enterprise-wide availability of information. The IFS UMMS (Unit Maintenance Management System) was born from this development.
The IFS RCM Extension also exists today as a stand-alone product that can be applied to a variety of complex platforms and systems, both military and commercial.
