Cross functional Components — Facts & Features

IFS has developed a set of powerful components for handling critical functionality such as project management, quality management, and general accounting rules. These components are used throughout IFS Applications to varying degrees in IFS' different product and industry solutions.

Business Performance

IFS/Business Performance™ is an integrated performance management system supporting target-setting, follow-up and analysis of performance measures. IFS Measure Library includes about 200 predefined ready-to-use performance measures that support a fast track to performance measurement. The IFS/Scorecard plays an important role in any Corporate Performance Management (CPM) solution as the central repository for all performance-related information. As a Web solution, it enhances communication of strategy and performance management in distributed settings. In an environment with external data sources, the IFS/Data Transformation Services is an easy-to-use application for updating performance information in IFS Scorecard.

Accounting Rules

IFS/Accounting Rules™  gives you the assurance of a common set of rules for controlling all postings within IFS Applications. The component provides an excellent overview that secures your accounting model and simplifies further development and adaptation. It supports decentralized entry and follow-up, can handle any number of currencies and is compatible with third-party interfaces. Accounting periods and voucher types can be determined freely.

Business Reporting

IFS/Business Reporting™ encompasses the broad report functionality in IFS Applications, which covers all types of ad-hoc, operational and analytical reporting, including Report generator, Quick Reports, Report Designer, and Output channels.

Project Management

IFS/Project Management™  is a repository for information about projects, subprojects and other types of activities. Project-oriented information, maintained centrally, can effectively be reused, connected and accessed throughout IFS Applications. You can monitor the progress of a project, tracking costs, hours and performance. The link to IFS/General Ledger enables actual costs and revenue to be analyzed throughout the project. A full project analysis enables you to identify trouble areas that may be affecting performance, making future projects more profitable.

Project Reporting

IFS/Project Reporting™ is the easy way to report project time and cost for employees. For project managers, it is an efficient and easy-to-use tool for project administration and for tracking time and costs related to project activities. The graphical project structure, with IFS’ one-button transfer of information to other products (e.g., Microsoft Excel or a Web browser) provides an excellent project overview. Financial flows are fully supported and include cost accounting and an optional invoicing feature. The component enables analysis and follow-up.

Document Management

IFS Document Management™  is a natural extension of the software that users are familiar with (e.g., Windows). Users can also work with documents via their Web browser. Security settings are flexible to fit the different needs of different customers. You can subscribe for documents through e-mail or other distribution channels. Based on standard components, it integrates with the business solution or operates as a stand-alone. It includes templates, version and release management plus support for invoice scanning (OCR).

Quality Management

IFS Quality Management™  provides the ability to define control plans, test and inspection instructions and standards for parts, suppliers, manufacturing processes and any combination of the above. Samples are linked to shop orders, purchase orders, serial numbers, lot numbers, and processes with time stamps. The most common SPC charts for variables and attributes are supported, and capability indices can be calculated for any process. Overview forms with standard interfaces can be used to feed third-party products for more advanced statistical calculations.

Case Management

IFS/Case Management™  enables you to effectively provide workflow-based case management with full traceability and swift dispatch. The component enables employees and partners to easily register issues, link them to relevant business objects, and route them using queues or direct dispatch. Cases can seamlessly be entered and progress monitored by other employees in the team or partners using multi-channel interaction, through IFS/Personal Portal, for example. Each case is thoroughly tracked, and a detailed journal is kept for each step to ensure traceability and compliance with quality and regulatory process requirements. Calls in the queue can be escalated to other individuals for resolution if required. For further actions a case can easily be hooked up and handed over to other business processes, such as generating and planning work order requests. IFS/Case Management also provides support for thorough analytics by bundling a set of prepackaged measures for all stages of the process.

Business Modeler

IFS/Business Modeler™  is an integrated package of tools, methods, and graphical models for developing and communicating company work procedures, routines, and responsibilities. You can use it to tune and communicate your company processes during an implementation of IFS Applications. A good platform for this work is the IFS standard process library that contains a detailed set of models for several types of industry areas. You can also use the component to generate a graphical quality system that makes company routines easily available for the organization via your intranet. Further examples are ISO-certification projects and implementation of environmental systems. IFS Business Modeler covers several corporate perspectives, where the graphical documents produced become models for corporate structure and processes. The method used to design and evolve the models is based on a workshop technique, significantly increasing the buy-in of stakeholders while reducing the time, effort and cost of people involved.
