OKG, with the international E.ON group as its principal owner, is currently implementing an extensive investment program to modernize the plant and increase production capacity. The investment in IFS Applications is part of a long-term focus on further enhancing efficiency and safety at the plant. OKG has used IFS Applications to support its maintenance processes since 1997 and has collaborated closely with IFS over the years to develop the solution. This has included specific functionality required by the nuclear power industry to ensure safety during shutdown. Börje Ericsson, industry director for utilities and telecom, at IFS, said, “For IFS, this upgrade reaffirms our competitive edge among the most demanding customers in the market for maintenance solutions. Because we combine advanced functionality with ease of use and high user efficiency, we are able to implement the solution at a reasonable cost.” IFS prioritizes the energy and utilities industry and has 120 customers involved in power generation, transmission and distribution. These include the world's largest hydropower plant, Three Gorges (P. R. China), nuclear power stations in Barsebäck (Sweden), OKG (Sweden), and Qinshan (P. R. China), grid operators such as Svenska Kraftnät (Sweden), Statnett (Norway), Federal Grid Company of Russia, and TenneT (The Netherlands) as well as distributors such as Siemens Energy Services (New Zealand), Fortum (Sweden), and Hafslund Energi (Norway). Asset and workforce management are critical processes in the energy and utility industry, to which IFS has provided solutions for the past 19 years. Industry analysts such as Gartner, AMR Research, and ARC rank the asset and workforce management functionality in IFS Applications among the best in the market.
