Document Management File Handling Architecture
This document explains the architecture of IFS Document Management in IFS Applications 8. IFS Document Management (“Docman”) is in many ways a typical component, or product, of IFS Applications. It consists of a number of tables and views in a database, together with business logic, also stored in the database, as well as a number of “screens” (forms, web pages) in our clients: IFS Enterprise Explorer (“IFS EE”) and IFS Web Client (“web”). These screens work like all other screens in IFS Applications; you create records, you perform various operations or commands to manipulate the records, and you search for the records and navigate around in the component. Docman, however, differs in one crucial aspect: we handle files for the user.
