The IFS Fleet and Asset Management solution supports the management of an asset to extract optimum life (required life vs. cost) and fleet management to optimise the utilisation of that life while focussing on safety, optimising yield, minimising asset cost, increasing up-time and ensuring regulatory control.
IFS Fleet and Asset Management supports maintenance management and asset modification programmes, configuration control and operational activities as well as asset structure definition for heavy maintenance, all in a COTS environment. Users can ensure maintenance is done at the optimum time to support operations at minimum cost and document that correct and allowable configurations are maintained. It can be used as a standalone solution or in combination with IFS functionality for heavy equipment maintenance, complex assembly, component and line Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) solutions.
The planning and scheduling of planned and unplanned line maintenance activities on an asset is fully supported by IFS Applications. The operator records asset utilisation which updates the task list and the asset operational schedule. New maintenance orders are scheduled and executed and completed work is recorded in the asset history or logbook.
A crucial part to operating a fleet of assets is to be able to manage your maintenance programme. IFS Applications handles the definition of preventive (interval-based) maintenance plans and condition-based maintenance. Fault deferral rules are used to defer non-critical faults where a set of rules manages what kind of faults can be deferred and on what type of material. The solution supports the definition of life limits and maintenance instructions. Where modifications have been defined, through Airworthiness Directives or similar, the details of the modification can be defined in the solution. Template structures can be maintained by modification, which can introduce new alternates.
A vital part to the management of a fleet of assets is to ensure that you have complete control of the configuration of your assets. IFS Applications integrates with engineering systems to provide the Fleet & Asset Management solution with serial part information directly from engineering part revisions. The maintenance engineer defines the template structures for each platform of asset which are then applied to each individual asset. Maintenance of the template structures is key and IFS Applications ensures integrity of the data through the access control module.
The definition of a Serial Structure handles all the activities required to build an entire serial structure and make it available for use in the Fleet and Asset Management solution for vehicles, such as aircrafts, locomotives and ships. For serials that are available in inventory and defined as new or available after maintenance, the system has a best fit feature to help select the serial and arrange its next maintenance to coincide with its parent asset maintenance. This secures balanced usage of the vehicles and smooth and low throughput of the maintenance in the workshops.
The Fleet & Asset Management solution enables operators to drive efficiency from the available fleet and operational requests from the end user. The operator can plan daily operations, assign assets to a sector series and produce the asset operation schedule. The Flight Log module within the solution allows the operator to view and record information about the operation during the usage of the asset which provides operation data and historical analysis to fleet management.
Maintenance engineers require the ability to maintain serial structures using serial structure templates. It is also possible to perform reliability analysis and product reports using information from operation logs, historical usage data, work orders and OEM life data. Requirements from service bulletins and airworthiness directives can be managed within the solution and planning documents and reports from material review boards help the maintenance organisation derive requirements for the maintenance programme.
The Fleet and Asset Management solution supports the core processes of Performing Due Calculations and Definition of a Maintenance Visit. Perform Due Calculations handles the different types of due calculations that can be performed and the solution can calculate the average historical and planned values for an operational parameter. The operator can also perform due calculation for Life Limited Part, interval maintenance and modification tasks. The option to change and/or reset an interval maintenance plan presented from the due calculation where either the planned date or the planned value can be changed is available.
Based on operational budgets (e.g. flying hours or miles) for the use of the fleet (e.g. aircraft or locomotives) for a number of years ahead, order history, fault history and operational log history (e.g. flying hours or miles) that are present in the application, you can calculate forecasts for preventive and corrective maintenance over the budget horizon (e.g. 5 years). The forecast calculation results in material needs for parts, components and consumables which, after simulation, may be transferred to inventory and reduced against work orders as they are generated. The forecast also shows capacity needs per workshop and resource.
