EDS Defense and IFS Defense have leading positions in the UK and International Defense solutions market. EDS Defense is the top systems integration supplier to the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) with a highly successful record of large project delivery and a wide range of capabilities from consulting and systems integration to provision of managed services. IFS Defense is the leading UK MoD Enterprise Logistics Application provider, and provides logistics information solutions to the major A&D organizations around the world. After reviewing their respective positions in the UK defense landscape, and having worked together on a number of major international opportunities, EDS Defense and IFS Defense have agreed to develop a stronger and formalized strategic solutions arrangement as a framework to more successfully developing focused solutions and to pursue defense opportunities in a number of areas. The strategic solutions agreement is fundamentally based upon both companies’ move towards a service orientated architecture (SOA), information service and an output-based approach to meeting customer business requirements. The agreement also takes advantage of areas where both companies have strategic market lead positions and lead SOA products. Through their complementary deep knowledge of the MoD’s existing and new business processes, EDS and IFS Defense have jointly developed an approach to transformation in logistics information that leads the thinking in this market. The intention is to jointly develop customer solutions based on this strategy.
