First two subsidiaries of Visser & Smit Hanab go live with IFS Applications
New ERP system supports growth and global project management.
Two recently split-off subsidiaries of Visser & Smit Hanab are the first to have deployed IFS Applications as part of a company-wide roll-out. The subsidiaries are VSMC and VolkerInfra UK. VSMC is a marine contractor and involved in various large projects, including submarine and onshore power cable lay and trenching activities. VolkerInfra UK is active in drilling, installation of power cables, marine projects, and offshore windmill parks. Both companies are part of VolkerWessels.
In recent years, Visser & Smit Hanab has enjoyed a rapid international growth, with an increasing focus on EPC projects (Engineering, Procurement & Construction). In order to manage increasingly complex projects, and support its expansion through its many subsidiaries, the company chose to implement IFS Applications as its ERP platform.
“Since selecting IFS Applications, we have been focused on mapping our processes to ensure an optimal basic installation. This enables us to support core functions such as projects, purchasing, finance, and time registration for all business units,” says Arjan Hartman, information manager at Visser & Smit Hanab. “In the second phase, functions such as data management and service will follow. As soon as IFS Applications is implemented company-wide, we will benefit greatly from optimal project and cost control and transparency.”
Visser & Smit Hanab expects the two main business units, “Industrial & Power Projects” and “Transport & Drilling Solutions” and the central office to be live by the beginning of 2013.
