Damen Shipyards goes live with IFS Applications

Damen Shipyards in Gorinchem, the Netherlands, has implemented IFS Applications to streamline its business processes throughout the organization and improve usability through adding IFS Enterprise Explorer, a modern user-friendly, intuitive interface that increases operational productivity.

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem is part of the Damen Shipyards Group, employing more than 6,700 people worldwide. The Damen Shipyards Group annually builds 150 ships, ranging from tugboats and ferries to navy frigates and super yachts, and has a large number of repair yards. Damen Shipyards Gorinchem uses IFS Applications for Service Management to manage ship repairs and spare parts sales. In addition, Damen uses call center and warranties management functionality from IFS to handle customer queries related to warranties. It will also use IFS Applications to run its financials processes. As of next spring, Damen will also use the contract management and project management components in IFS Applications. With these components, the company will be able to support all kind of projects from service, repair work to new fabrication projects.

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem chose IFS Applications at the end of 2009 to improve project monitoring and efficiency. With this solution, the company reduced delivery times and optimized information flows. This was all done within the framework of the ‘Dawn’ project, in which Damen focuses on introducing uniform processes, systems and master data in all product groups and throughout the production chain.
