Norwegian power company Mørenett selects IFS Applications to create a competitive edge
IFS to empower Mørenett’s field service staff with powerful mobile solutions.
IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces that Mørenett, one of Norway’s ten largest power grid companies, has selected IFS Applications™ as its core ERP solution.
Mørenett was established in early 2014 following a merger between energy companies Tussa Nett AS and Tafjord Kraftnett AS to provide customers with safe and reliable electricity. The company is the eighth largest power grid company in Norway and services 61,000 customers in the Sunnmøre region.
Mørenett was looking for a broad business software solution including finance, distribution, project, procurement and HR that could support the core business operations of the newly established company while including a robust and powerful mobile platform that could empower its field service team. Following a competitive tender, IFS Application was selected.
The IFS ERP solution includes support for 240 users, and will be used by all of Mørenett’s field service staff.
Commenting on the tender process, Mørenett CPO Torbjørn Aarø identified IFS’s mobile platform as being able to deliver real business value, “IFS demonstrated to us a compelling business case for this investment. One of the things that really made IFS stand out from the competition, including Microsoft Dynamics, was the user-friendly mobile solutions that will be a welcome support for our company.”
The complex nature of Mørenett’s operations meant that it needed a solution that was rich in functionality and could adapt to the evolving nature of the industry. IFS’s expertise in the utility sector and the agility of its solution means that Mørenett will be able to achieve fast ROI and long-term business value.
“Having been chosen to support Mørenett’s business is a great honor and a validation of our long-term focus on the energy sector,” IFS Scandinavia CEO Glenn Arnesen said. “We are very proud to be a part of this new venture and look forward to work with Mørenett as part of our long-term relationship.”
The implementation will be completed during 2015.
Mørenett is responsible for the power grid in 12 municipalities in Sunnmøre and parts of Nordfjord. Mørenett is the result of a merger between the grid divisions of Tafjord Kraftnett and Tussa Nett. Mørenett owns and maintains the regional grid in the municipalities in northern and southern Sunnmøre as well as the distribution grid in the area covering the municipalities of Ålesund, Sula, Giske, Norddal, Ulstein, Hareid, Herøy, Sande, Vanylven, Ørsta, Volda and Hornindal.
Mørenett employs some 240 members of staff and is based in Hovdebygda in Ørsta. The company also has divisions in Ålesund, Herøy, Hornindal og Vanylven. The company services some 61,000 grid customers.
