Orange France streamlines its supply chain with IFS Applications
IFS, the global enterprise applications company, today announces that Orange, the global telecom company, has launched the first phase of its project to streamline its supply chain in France by implementing IFS Applications™. The IFS software will replace two separate logistics solutions and enable Orange France to optimize and facilitate customer and supplier relations as well as support the company’s development.
After an evaluatio
After an evaluation, Orange selected IFS Applications as it best matched the company’s needs. Being a leading provider of supply chain solutions, IFS could offer a better ROI than the competition in addition to superior industry experience from implementations at customers such as France Telecom.
This large-scale project will enable Orange to handle three logistics flows in a single solution—from detecting customers’ needs to satisfying them. Close to 900 people in the company’s supply chain will work together via the same solution. Benefiting from visibility into its logisitics flows, Orange will be able to guarantee the availability of its products to all sales channels. It will also optimize stock management, procurement and asset management.
“Logistics is a key function in business development and customer satisfaction. It involves a change of attitude, of seeing the business as a whole. With a common system, we can increase the availability of our products and reduce our need of working capital as stock levels are maintained at all times throughout the supply chain. We will also increase ROI by optimizing warehousing, transportation, and repair and recycling operations,” said Emmanuel Lacroix, SCICS Program Director at Orange France.
“Supply chain management is becoming increasingly strategic and horizontal. As business becomes more diversified, stakes are higher and it is no longer merely a matter of managing the supply chain; it’s about gaining greater visibility into the business processes and surroundings—from provider to final customer. We are delighted that a global company like Orange has trusted us in this challenging project of steamlining its entire processes in France,” said Amor Bekrar, IFS France CEO.
The first phase, which started in April of 2011, merged and streamlined the logistics processes in the company’s Infrastructure and Network divisions. The next phases will focus on streamlining flows for the Enterprise and General Public divisions.
Almost 500 logistics channels will ultimately be affected.
