IFS demonstrates future of business applications in global user conference series
Today, IFS, the global enterprise applications company, kicks off a series of user conferences together with the local user groups. As part of the program, IFS will outline new innovations and initiatives in its development of business applications.
IFS has user groups all over the world, and this year local meetings will be held in Norway, Sweden, Germany, the UK, the USA and Finland. IFS expects a total of 1,500 attendees at these forums, the first of which will be in Norway, September 11-12.
After positive feedback following the initial launch of IFS Aurora in October 2007, demonstrations of IFS Applications’ new user interface will be the focus of the events. IFS Aurora underwent successful Alpha testing in May, and IFS is beginning to involve early adopters who will use Aurora across several business processes.
“An increased focus on productivity means IFS Aurora gives our customers a real competitive advantage both by boosting efficiency and giving them greater flexibility,” Dan Matthews, CTO at IFS said. “IFS Aurora is designed specifically to adapt to a user’s desired way of working. This increased usability, combined with a new ergonomic design, embedded enterprise application search, and integrated rich media, will improve user interaction with IFS Applications.”
The user conferences will give existing IFS customers the opportunity to view this software and gain an insight into the future of business applications from IFS’ CTO, Dan Matthews. He will be present at all the user conferences to outline IFS’ innovations and new initiatives.
“We believe that the growing importance of communities is one of the most significant trends for businesses in the near future. Enterprise 2.0 allows companies to empower their employees to build networks based on information already present in the ERP system,” Matthews said. “For example, the system identifies groups of people in the same role or field across an international company, such as project managers, and assists in building this community. Information from Wikis, or blogs, can be integrated with the ERP system, where relevant for the use of this community. A blog about global projects could, for example, be made much more use of if it is tied into this system.”
During the user conferences, IFS is launching openIFS, a community for IFS users globally. This is a tool for information exchange between super users and process owners, as well as IT professionals and end-users. The US User Group Network has already moved its community into openIFS, and more will follow.

Giving users the ability to individualize their working environment to completely fit with their role and working style improves productivity dramatically. The user groups are the perfect way to learn what we need to be able to continually develop solutions that can deliver real value.”
