EDS Defence and IFS Defence—Strategic Solutions Agreement
EDS Defence and IFS Defence have signed a Strategic Solutions agreement, bringing together leading defense logistics solutions and expertise to fast-track defense transformation.
EDS Defence and IFS Defence have leading positions in the UK and International Defense solutions market. EDS Defence is the top systems integration supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) with a highly successful record of large project delivery and a wide range of capabilities from Consulting and Systems Integration to Managed Service provision. IFS Defence is the lead UK MoD Enterprise Logistics Application provider, and provides logistics information solutions to the leading A&D organizations in the UK, US and globally.
Having reviewed their respective positions in the UK Defense landscape, and worked together in prosecuting a number of major international opportunities, EDS Defence and IFS Defence have agreed to develop a stronger and formalized Strategic Solutions arrangement as a framework to more successfully developing focused solutions and to prosecute Defense opportunities in a number of areas.
The Strategic Solutions agreement is fundamentally based upon both companies’ move towards a Service Orientated Architecture (SOA), Information Service and Output based approach to meeting customer business requirements; areas where both companies have strategic market lead positions and lead SOA products. Through their complementary deep knowledge of the MoD’s existing and new business processes, EDS and IFS Defence have jointly developed an approach to transformation in Logistics Information that leads the thinking in this market.
The intention is to jointly develop customer solutions based on this strategy.
Aerospace and defense is one of IFS’ targeted market segments. IFS Applications includes advanced standard functionality that meets the demanding requirements of the aerospace and defense industries in respect of maintenance and materiel availability. IFS’ integrated solution for product data management (PDM), fleet management, and project management, combined with the other components in IFS Applications, make it easier to operate while managing the design, manufacturing and ongoing spare parts logistics throughout the product lifecycle.IFS customers include the British, Norwegian, and US defense organizations. Commercial MRO shops and operators include Finnair, Bristow Helicopters, Aero-Dienst GmbH, Hawker Pacific, and Jet Turbine Services. In addition, IFS provides solutions to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the global defense industry such as General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, the Eurofighter consortium, BAE SYSTEMS, Saab, and GE Transportation.
