Hafslund streamlines work processes with IFS Document Management
Hafslund Nett, one of Norway’s largest power grid operators, has implemented IFS Document Management in order to promote effective process and system utilization. The implementation process has involved the migration of over 350,000 documents from the preexisting Hummingbird system to IFS Document Management.
One of the main objectives for Hafslund Nett was to streamline document management processes in order to provide better support for the company’s main business areas for project, maintenance and operations.
By reducing the number of software applications, Hafslund is now able to store all documents in one place; as an integrated part of Hafslund Nett’s existing IFS modules.
“For Hafslund Nett, the project represents a company-wide ambition to rejuvenate our routines, streamline our work processes, and consolidate our business applications. Being fully integrated with IFS Applications, IFS Document Management enables all documents connected to business objects such as work orders, assets, support issues and document folders. The result is value-added features superior to traditional best-of-breed document systems,” said Dag Akselsen, Department manager IKT and AMS Strategy, Hafslund Nett.
One area where the implementation project has streamlined the documentation process is the integration of third-party systems with IFS functionality. Hafslund is now able to create, develop and store documents through main processes integrated with third-party systems such as GIS and Microsoft Office/Outlook, and to follow up on these using IFS Document Management.
“The cooperation between IFS and Hafslund Nett has been mutually beneficial and proactive. The immediate gains that we see as a result of the migration is increased control throughout the entire document management chain as well as a consolidation of our overall work processes”, Akselsen said.
The solution, which complies with Norwegian Public Law, is finely tuned to deliver on the company’s main ambition: To achieve a simpler and more efficient working day where data and documents are created in one place within systems that support Hafslund Nett’s business processes and functions in the most efficient way possible.
Hafslund Nett is a part of Hafslund ASA, one of Norway’s largest power distributors, with the largest power sales in Norway. Hafslund Nett owns and operates the power grid in 40 municipalities, serving 540,000 grid customers. Hafslund ASA has approximately 1,000 employees and annual sales revenues in the region of NOK15,800 million. It is also a medium-sized power producer, generating approximately 3 TWh. The Company is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, and consists of five business areas.
