Nuclear power simulator and training company KSG enhances its efficiency with IFS Applications
The German nuclear power simulator and training company, KSG Kraftwerks-Simulator-Gesellschaft mbH (KSG), has chosen to implement IFS Applications to enhance its planning and financial processes. The total value of the contact amounts to over €800,000.
KSG runs a simulator center which is the largest of its kind in the world. More than 2,000 staff from 17 nuclear power plants attends the training center each year, practicing operations under all possible conditions and requirements on 13 simulators. Training covers the entire range of nuclear power plant operations: normal operation, operational disturbances and severe accidents. KSG is owned by the German nuclear power operators E.ON Kernkraft GmbH, Vattenfall Europe Nuclear Energy GmbH, RWE Power AG, EnBW Kraftwerke AG and Netherlands N.V. Electriciteits-Produktiemaatschappij Zuid- Nederland.
IFS Applications will replace the KSG legacy, VAX-based system. The goal is to increase the utilization of the simulators by implementing a modern, integrated solution, enhancing the financial, warehousing, project management and planning processes.
“We chose IFS based on the functionality of IFS Applications and because we were confident that we could collaborate with IFS to successfully implement a complex project such as this,” said Dr. Eberhard Hoffmann, CEO at KSG.
IFS prioritizes the energy and utilities industry and has more than 140 customers involved in power generation, transmission and distribution as well as water and sewage. These include the world's largest hydropower plant, Three Gorges (P. R. China), nuclear power plants OKG (Sweden), PBMR (South Africa) and Qinshan (P. R.
