Best-in-class mid-sized organizations are more than twice as likely to deploy ERP in the cloud
ORACLE OPENWORLD: SAN FRANCISCO, 29 SEPTEMBER, 2014—IFS, the global enterprise applications company, today announced the release of an Aberdeen Group report looking at the growth of adoption of cloud services within mid-market organizations around the globe. The report, called “Improve Your Midmarket Business Operations With Cloud Applications”, explores the business opportunities and benefits these organizations can realize by implementing cloud-based applications. The complete report can be found here: http://www4.ifsworld.com/Cloud-operations.
- Aberdeen Group report, provided by IFS, analyses the adoption of cloud ERP by mid-market businesses
In the report, mid-market organizations indicated three main reasons for choosing a cloud-based solution over an on-premise solution:
- Lower cost of implementation and upkeep
- Lack of dedicated IT resources to manage on-premise infrastructure
- Ability to scale the solution as the organization grows
“Organizations may want to move some of their technology on-premise or utilize a cloud solution to open up a new business unit as part of a multi-tiered ERP strategy,” wrote Nick Castellina, Research Director at Aberdeen Group. “For mid-market organizations, the flexibility that cloud environments provide actually enables these organizations to implement more technology that can improve processes across the organization. Cloud solutions are more likely to enable mid-market organizations to combat their unique challenges.”
Cloud-based solutions are available to employees regardless of location, thereby improving functionality and cross-team visibility, increasing global collaboration and enabling broader business efficiency and agility. Companies participating in the research study that have cloud solutions implemented noted greater benefits including operating costs, schedule compliance and on-time delivery.
“The findings in the report support the key business drivers that led to our partnership and integration with Microsoft’s Azure cloud solution,” said David Eager, Vice President of Global Alliances at IFS. “As mid-size businesses identify their most critical business challenges, deploying a cloud solution can improve performance and create flexibility in your technology environment, whether your technology architecture is changing, you plan to add more users, or intend to add new processes. The bottom line is you can quickly and cost-effectively deploy a solution that allows you to adapt to the ever-changing needs of your business.”
