Fast-growing civil engineering contractor Burton Contractors selects IFS Applications
IFS, the global enterprise applications company, today announced that Burton Contractors, one of the fastest growing civil engineering contractors in New South Wales, will implement IFS Applications™ as an integrated ERP solution in a strategic initiative underpinning future growth intended to deliver and improve business efficiencies.
- Consolidation of standalone systems with IFS Applications to drive efficiency, profitability
- Solution includes applications for smartphones and tablets for enhanced information access
- Integrated EAM and better reporting to improve the return on investment over the lifetime of the company’s major assets
Burton Contractors will implement IFS Applications to create a single information system encompassing financials and reporting, human resources, payroll, project management, asset management, and document management. Until now, the company has relied on standalone applications for each of its business functions.
Consolidating all of its business information within a single application, Burton Contractors will be able to report immediately on all aspects of its operations. This will improve financial forecasting which is expected to provide for better informed business decision making, with full knowledge and locality regarding business profitability.
“We are growing at the moment and the information systems we had were too labour intensive,” said Chris Burton, General Manager for Burton Contractors. “If we needed a result or an answer to a question then someone had to work a spreadsheet for a day or two and come back with an answer. We need the ability to press a button and get an answer immediately and IFS Applications gives us that.”
Burton Contractors will take advantage of IFS’s support for mobile devices – which includes Touch Apps for iOS, Android and Windows smartphones and tablets – which means that Project Managers, engineers and other site personnel can upload and access information directly from tablets and smartphones onsite. As part of this, the company will implement IFS Notify Me for real-time approvals and IFS Mobile Work Order.
IFS Applications will create business efficiencies by eradicating the duplicated data entry that currently occurs on different systems, and promote better communications between different areas of the business via a shared information system. Burton Contractors is also formalising business processes and procedures, intending to streamline them as part of the ERP implementation.
With integrated asset management and better reporting, Burton Contractors expects to improve the return on investment over the lifetime of its major assets, including dozers, scrapers, dump trucks, compactors, graders, excavators and water carts.
The civil construction and infrastructure industry is an IFS targeted vertical market. Australian and international customers in the industry include Alliance Contracting, Brierty, Brookfield Multiplex, Contiga, Graham, Technip, Hertel, Debut Services, Fabcon, Babcock Group, Agility Group, Heerema Fabrication Group, Clancy Docwra, Damen Shipyards, Seadrill, Eltel Networks and Infratek.
“Burton Contractors’ investment in an integrated ERP system will support its continued rapid growth without limiting productivity and the constraints that lack of visibility associated with manual reporting systems can create,” said Rob Stummer, Managing Director at IFS Australia and New Zealand. “We look forward to partnering with Burton Contractors and working with them to improve their business processes to help them achieve their business goals.”
