Enterprise Asset Management

The agile EAM suite, designed for change

Enterprise asset management (EAM) software needs to be more than a glorified computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). And IFS Applications offers more. A lot more. As part of a complete enterprise suite or as a standalone enterprise asset management solution, we offer you the freedom to implement as much supporting functionality as you need to meet your asset management and other organizational requirements while improving reliability and lifecycle management. Sure, you get maintenance scheduling software, work orders and other functionality necessary for reliability-centered maintenance. But you can also extend your EAM solution with project execution and project financial control, human resources, purchasing, risk management, finance, document management, and more.

Asset Investment Planning

Many organizations made considerable investment in new assets back in the 60s and 70s and even further back. These assets are now getting to the end of their working life and will need to be replaced, refurbished, scrapped or renewed. This is likely to be a major activity, ensuring that funding and investments are directed at the assets that need to be replaced first. To determine this, organizations need to understand a number of factors relating to the current state of the assets, remaining life, condition, maintenance history, and more, and develop a strategic plan of Asset Investment. The operational intelligence capability within IFS Applications can assist in this program.

The IFS Enterprise Operational Intelligence software solution (EOI) enables a full 360-degree, enterprise wide, top down perspective of processes and performance aligned with the business strategy. In an asset investment scenario, processes are defined for validating the current asset condition. These are then monitored and managed directly in the EAM solution.

With IFS EAM, you have all your asset management planning and operations consolidated in a single solution, freeing you from asset data leakage or accuracy concerns.

Asset Lifecycle Management

IFS Applications is unique as an EAM solution in that it includes comprehensive functionality to support the entire asset lifecycle, from cradle to grave. Due to the deep project management capabilities that we have within our solution, we can manage assets as they are being designed, constructed/manufactured or procured. The installation and commissioning process and handover to operations and maintenance can all be managed in the one solution. This does not only apply to new assets. Assets moving through a refurbishment program can equally be managed on that capital expenditure program.

In most organizations, the as-maintained asset structure changes and is updated in the business solution. Within our solution, we have a unique asset design component that allows us to hold and retain the as-designed or as-commissioned structure and thus all of the documentation, data sheets, original preventive maintenance schedules, spare parts, original purchase and warranty information are all available to users.

Whether you are planning and designing your asset, operating it and maintaining it over its productive lifecycle, executing a refit or decommissioning, IFS Applications gives you one version of the truth, so you can maximize the value realized over the asset lifecycle.

Asset Performance Management

One way to improve Asset Performance Management (APM) is through IoT and Artificial Intelligence. However, if the foundation of your EAM regime isn’t well anchored, any innovation will likely remain a proof of concept. Our approach to APM encourages that routine tasks are done consistently and with minimal effort, whether reporting a task on a mobile device or updating an asset structure to reflect the as-maintained hierarchy. And once this is embedded in the organization, to move onto initiatives that can derive value.

Once you have that foundation, data collection from machines, sensors and devices utilizing IIoT and AI can be combined toward delivering predictive maintenance and service across complex, distributed machines and assets. Pulling this data into a structured failure management routine, where results based on readings, measurements, and alarms are accumulated and constantly re-evaluated using IIoT and AI, reduces the time it takes to identify and diagnose equipment casualties.  In some cases, it should be able to warn of an imminent failure within a certain timeframe.

The same data can be used to stretch the periodicity of preventive maintenance interruptions, leading toward a truly predictive maintenance system.

This results in dramatically increased uptime - a far more efficient and nuanced way of actively planning maintenance of critical equipment and infrastructure than simple calendar- or usage-based regimes.
